KTRK-TV, the ABC O&O located in Houston, TX, has an opening for a full time SPORTS ANCHOR.
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in anchoring fast paced highlight driven local and national sports in a medium to large market. A strong knowledge of local sports teams which include national, collegiate and local sports franchises is required. Must be able to nurture relationships with coaches, athletes, agents and administrators to assist in breaking stories as well as establishing community presence outside of sports reporting. The successful candidate must be dedicated, engaged, and play a role in planning future coverage. Applicants must be able to develop contacts, enterprise good, hard news stories, and respond well to breaking and spot news. Candidates must have outstanding writing skills and storytelling ability to make good use of information and technology provided. This position will include occasional weekends late nights and an ability to travel. Strong social media a plus.
