Broadcast Technical Specialist
Job Description ABC, Inc. is a broad-based international media company with broadcasting, cable and publishing properties, as well as programming services and licenses, in more than 100 countries.

The Broadcast Operations and Engineering division engineers and provides technical support for the ABC Television Network. The BTSS department supports and maintains all on-air automation, ingest and playout facilities for the ABC Television Network.
Responsibilities Candidate will be responsible for management, support and analysis of a wide range of broadcast computer-based systems and IP networks in an on-air broadcast 24x7 environment. Candidate will assist in the analysis, testing, and implementation of new broadcast computer-based systems supporting file based content workflows and computer controlled broadcast equipment. Other responsibilities will include hands-on preventative maintenance, in-service testing, modification, and implementation of these systems.

These systems include those directly or indirectly related to computer-based broadcast operations such as:

Broadcast Automation
HD & SD video servers
Program related data insertion systems
Remote monitoring and diagnosis systems

This position includes working non-traditional hours (evenings, overnights, and weekends); consistent attendance is essential. Must be flexible to work in a 24/7 rotating shift operation.

Technical Skills

Excellent troubleshooting skills and strong problem solving skills. Must be able to effectively interact with and coordinate efforts between users, support personnel, equipment, and vendors. Candidate must have a working knowledge of a wide range of broadcast-related software, operating systems and servers.

Non- Technical Skills

Must be organized and possess excellent oral and written communications skills. Must work well with people. Must demonstrate creativity/initiative in problem solving. Must work well independently and unsupervised as well as in a team.

Work Experience

Minimum 5 years technical experience in a professional TV, radio, or media production environment. Experience in:

o Broadcast Automation Systems (Harris a plus)
o Video Disk Servers (Profile XP or Nexio a plus)
o Ross Overdrive
o Working knowledge of broadcast devices typical in a television facility
o Windows XP/NT/2000/2003 server/workstation OS (MCSE a plus)
o IP protocols, LAN topologies (CCNA a plus)
o Working knowledge of broadcast-related software.
Required Education College degree related to computers or broadcasting OR equivalent relevant experience.
