Director - Strategy
Job Description We seek to recruit a Director-level executive to support the formulation and execution of Disney Media Networks’ growth and profitability strategy.
The role requires superior strategic, research, financial analysis, business development, project management and team leadership skills. The individual must possess the ability to support and work effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior divisional and corporate executives to business unit managers, as well as with potential external partner companies.
Responsibilities This individual will be a highly valued member of the Strategy team, working closely with the VP of Strategy and other division executives on various strategic and operational initiatives. The Director will play a key role in strategic planning, new business development, joint ventures and partnerships for the entire media division of The Walt Disney Company. Responsibilities include:
? Provide key analytic and research support and be a thought leader in the company’s continuing reassessment of its growth, investment, product offering, advertising sales and distribution strategies
? Manage complex projects with minimal direction
? Work effectively with team members throughout Disney Media Networks as well as in other areas of The Walt Disney Company
? Work with senior business unit executives to drive the strategic development process
? Define and analyze critical new business development opportunities for the company
? Help execute mergers & acquisitions, partnerships and divestitures
? Create business plans for new ventures
? Perform research, valuations, modeling and analysis and utilize other tools to inform business decisions
The successful candidate should have a proven track record in strategy and business development work, as well as financial analysis. The position is based in New York, NY and will report to the VP of Strategy for Disney Media Networks. This position supports members of the strategy team in New York and Burbank. The strategy team as a whole works closely with Anne Sweeney and George Bodenheimer, on issues of key strategic importance.

Basic Qualifications ? Proven track record in strategy and business development
? Superior strategic skills that provide business insight and support decision-making processes
? Familiarity with media and entertainment businesses, including digital platforms
? Ability to combine strong quantitative skills with excellent interpersonal skills
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Eagerness to dissect and analyze complex business relationships
? Ability to craft concise recommendations based on thorough business and market analysis
? Ability to communicate complex ideas and data sets graphically in an effective way
? Excellent analytical, financial modeling and research skills
? Excellent project management skills
? Superior attention to detail
? Takes initiative and is a self-starter
? Ability to lead a project from inception, formulating theses and managing work with minimal supervision
? Ability to work well with a variety of business partners and diverse stakeholders
? Familiarity with working in or with large organizations
? Willing to pitch in wherever needed
? Minimum 3 to 7 years of post-MBA business experience
? Strategy or business development experience a must, including building and analyzing business plans, creating financial models and performing strategic analysis
Preferred Qualifications Experience with a premier management consulting firm or corporate strategy group preferred
Required Education ? MBA from a leading graduate business school
? Proven strong academic track record
